No Classes in Pancevo Schools on Friday

In 17 primary and secondary schools in Pancevo there will be no classes on Friday, January 28th. The decision was adopted on the meeting of Association of Teachers and Professors in Pancevo last night. Strike with 30 minute classes will be held in primary schools Stevica Jovanovic, Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj, Sveti Sava, Borisav Petrov Braca and in schools in villages of Ivanovo and Banatski Brestovac, as well as in Gymnasium, Economic Secondary School and some others. There will be no strike in special school Mara Mandic and primary school Isidora Sekulic, since the union in this school still has not decided on strike.

Protocol on Coopration between Regional Talent Center Mihajlo Pupin and Gymnasium in Timisoara

Regional Center for Young Talents Mihajlo Pupin from Pancevo and Serbian Gymnasium Dositej Obradovic from Timisoara have signed the Protocol on Cooperation in order to connect their students and organise programmes. Two students and their teacher from Timisoara participated in course of Serbian language in Divcibare Such cooperation was starting point for signing of this Protocol, stated Regional Talent Center Director Dragoljub Cucic.

 

36th Birthday of Dom Omladine (Youth Club)

Youth Club in Pancevo will organize three- day concerts as the celebration of their 36th birthday. On Thursday, the exhibition Years will be opened, and bands Bas celik, Blues Delivers, Trigger, Kings, Vulcano and ZoZo Club Band and Zontag will perform. The review of videos of bands from pancevo will start on Friday. Movies and comics made as the production of Dom omladine will be presented on Saturday, with the concert of Darkwood Dub band, dj Vlada Beatanga Jovanovic and MC Iskaz.

 

Verdict in Jabuka Murder Case Today

Judge for Minors Stanka Simonovic at 15.00 today should announce the verdict after the trial for last year’s murder in the village of Jabuka. B.J. from Jabuka is guilty for murdering his peer S.D. in June last year in Jabuka village.

 

Judge Rules in Jabuka Murder Case

Roma national B.J. from Jabuka village was pronounced guilty for murder of his peer S.D, and the Judge for Minors Stanka Simonovic convicted him to four years of prison, including the previous year, which he had already spent in jail. The maximum sentence for murder, in cases when convicted is a minor, is five years.

Clean Development Gives Results

The closing conference, which presented the results of the programme „For Cleaner Developmet“ was held by in town administration building today. Seven public and utility enterprises and „Bozic and sinovi“ company and Petrochemical Plant. The programme was organised by Clean Development Center of Faculty of Technology in Belgrade with financial support of Austrian and Slovenian governments.

 

 

SNS: Local Assembly Parliament Member Dragan Katuca Joins SNS

Srpka napredna stranka in Pancevo became parliamentary party in Pancevo Assembly today, when MP Dragan Katuca joined them. According to Katuca, he decided to join the party because of its political programme, which is similar to that of his previous party. He added that as the biggest opposition party in Serbia, it is normal for SNS to have its representatives in Pancevo’ s Assembly. Katuca joined SNS as a free MP after being in New Serbia Party for 10 years.

 

 

Pancevac Newspaper Requests Restructuring

 

Staff of Pancevac newspaper sent their request to local self- government, regional chief and regional Chamber of Commerce to demand the restructuring from the Ministry of Economy and Privatisation Agency. Newspapaer Director Aleksandar Vuckovic explains that it is still possible for Erste bank to block bank account of Pancevac, because of the debt of previous owner. New unknown debts are also coming to light.

Publication “Starcevo- Cultural Identity and Continuity” is published by Institute for the Protection of Culture. The authors are from various fields and the aim of publication is promotion of cultural, historic and other values, stated architect Ms Vesna Potpara.

Not Enough Nitroglycerin in Pharmacies in Pancevo

There are still not enough supplies of nitroglycerin in pharmacies in Pancevo. Instead of nitroglycerin, the patients can get nitro spray, which is 70% more expensive. Like other state pharmacies in Serbia, those in Pancevo are also short of spalmotyl, which is a medicine for asthma and children’s bronchial illnesses.

 

Regular Classes in Pancevo Schools Despite Strike

Teaching classes are regular in Pancevo schools without shortening of classes, stated President of Association of Teachers and Professors in Slobodanka Cvetkovic for Radio Pancevo. In Serbia, only teachers and professors, members of Union Independence said that they will strike and hold classes for 30 minutes, while others have set the deadline for Friday to reach agreement with the Ministry of Education on the demands.

 

Cafe and Restaurant Owners Protest Due to High Prices of Author’s Rights

Association of craftsmen from entire Vojvodina and some towns in Serbia have reached the decision to repeat the protest on January 25th because of high prices of author’s rights of SOKOJ and PFPS (Organisation of phonogram producers in Serbia). Unlike December 22nd when music has been switched off for an hour, cafes and restaurants will music the entire day tomorrow.

 

Raquel Aparicio from Spain Opening Exhibition in Elektrika Gallery

The exhibition of illustrations of Spanish artist Raquel Aparicio will be opened at 20.00 tonight. Her illustrations have been published in magazines in Australia, China, Russia and Korea. She will also feature some of her favourite music as she often performs as DJ. Raquel Aparicio exhibition is a part of CROSSLINK workshops, financed by town administration.

Slippery Roads, Buses according to Schedule

The traffic continues to be regular on the roads in and around Pancevo. The roads are wet and slippery because of rain and snow. The buses are according to the schedule and are not late.

Competition for Financing of Sports Clubs in Pancevo Starts Next Week

Competition for financing of sports clubs in Pancevo with the finances from this tear's budget will be announced on Monday on the town administration website, and on Friday in the printed media. For the first time, the town should finance only 25 clubs this year, which must provide free training for children up to 14 years of age, stated town council member for sports Nikola Damjanovic for Radio Pancevo.

Premiere of Children’s Play Vasilisa Prekrasna

Children’s play Vasilisa Prekrasna (Vasilissa the Gorgeus) was a success for 15 years and will premiere once again with the new cast. The premiere should be at Bosko Buha Theatre in Belgrade on January 22nd and the price of ticket is 1000 dinars. All money gathered from tickets goes for charity to help 7 year old Vasilisa Milekic from Pancevo, who got severe burns last year. The charity show will be performed in Pancevo on January 26th at 12.00 and 17.00.

Former Director of Public Enterprise Serbia Roads Sentenced to Two Years of Prison

Former Director of Public Enterprise Serbia Roads, Branko Jocic from Pancevo, is sentenced to two years of prison today for abuse of power, stated PR of the Court of First Instance in Belgrade Ivana Ramic. Ramic stated that sentencing was in the first instance proceeding and that the defendant and the Prosecution have the right to appeal to the Appeal Court.

 

Education Staff to Respect Minimum of Work Hours during Strike

The Minister of Education Zarko Obradovic have sent out the letter to school directors around Serbia, in which he demands the minimum of proscribed working hours during strike, as stipulated by law. The representative union scheduled strike for January 28th.

 

150 Million Dinars for Social Programmes

Social protection budget of Pancevo local self- government shopuld be an example for towns in Serbia, according to town council member Doctor Novica Djordjevic. For social demands, the amount of 150 million dinars is set in 2011 budget, in spite the cuts in this year’s budget.

 

Conferences on Citizen’s Problems

Local self- government intends to organise a series of conferences, starting from the end of the month, on which the officials of local self- government together with citizens should discuss the most important issues for the life in te town. The representatives of locl self- government wish to hear the citizen’s problems directly in order to improve their position. 11 conferences are planned for now.

Investigation Should Discover Reason of Accident

Around 20.15 last night on the Kovacica- Crepaja road, a traffic accident occurred. The van driver Pavel B. has moved to another road line and directly hit the bus of Public Transport of Pancevo. Pavel B. died at the spot, while the bus driver and 13 people from the bus gained milder injuries. The investigation should discover the reasons behind the accident, stated Police Directorate in Pancevo.

 

Deputy Provincial Ombudsman Visited Village of Ivanovo

Deputy Provincial Ombudsman Mrs Eva Vukasinovic has visited the village of Ivanovo, and all villagers who find their rights violated by local or provincial authorities or services can petition for help. Until now, no one in Ivanovo complained on the violation of human rights regarding national minorities. One of the reasons is probably the lack of information, stated Mrs Vukasinovic. She also stated that according to submitted requests that the rights of minorities in Vojvodina improved during last year, and problems were solved in 65% of requests submitted, which is European average.

 

Today is Epiphany

Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates Epiphany today, the celebration of christening of Jesus, which started its mission of Christian sermon. It is traditionally marked by swimming for cross in many places in Serbia. In Orthodox temples, the water is blessed, and is considered to have healing powers. It should be kept in the house until following year.

 

Evening of Comedian Nusic in Cultural Centre

Union of citizens Gama organizes Evening of Nusic in Cultural Centre today at 18.30. On the day of death of our great comedian, which has spent part of his youth as an apprentice in Pancevo, the evening should mark his greatest achievements. Ana Marija Franc will play on harp, Brass Orchestra will perform and the children’s choir Zvoncici. Parts from Nusic’s comedies will be read.

General Strike of Teachers and Professors

Representative education unions have announced today that from January 28th, they should start general strike. It is expected that  around 1500 will participate in the strike. The striking committees of Union of employees in Education in Serbia, Union of Education Staff and Union Independence have adopted the decision on general strike on January 28th.

 

Petroremont Factory after a Year of Striking in Same Place

A year after of striking in Petroremont Factory have brought nothing to the workers after several talks and promises from the Ministry of Economy and Serbiagas. The owner Dusan Stupar offered social programme, which is an offence for dignity and makes them second- rate citizens, stated independent Company union.

 

Competition for Master Studies in Great Britain

 

Competition for professional trainging of students on Master courses in Great Britain, financed by town administration and supported by British Counci, is opened until March 1st.This is the second year that town finances this kind of programme, stated Deputy Major Filip mitrovic. Our citizens Marko Milanovic and Nebojsa Markovic are already on master studies in Britain in the area of environment and sustainable development, while this year the students will be educated in the economy and business and local self- government  domain. Today is Winter Feast of the Cross

Serbian Orthodox church and its believers mark winter Feast of Cross in the memory of the day when John the Baptist christened Jesus Christ in the river of Jordan. The day commemorates the cross used in the crucifixion of Jesus.  According to church ceremony, the cross is put in the water today and if the water freezes, the year should be fertile. Summer Feast of the Cross is on September 27th.
